A visit to Kersey
22nd June 2014 - 0 comments
Yesterday we took a run out to the beautiful village of Kersey in the heart of Suffolk. What an amazing place! If it wasn't for the cars (although no-where near as busy as Lavenham), I'd have thought I had been transported back in time.

From the Kersey Website: "With a population of around 350, the parish of Kersey consists of Kersey village and four hamlets: Kersey Tye, Kersey Upland, Wicker Street Green and William’s Green. The village of Kersey, straggling across a ford and up the slopes of a little valley and its church crowning the hill on the south side, is regarded as one of the most picturesque villages in East Anglia. While it possesses an important collection of medieval buildings, Kersey is also a vibrant community centred on its school, church, village hall and local pub."

After walking up the hill towards the Priory and back, we finished the trip off with a pint in the beer garden of the Bell Inn public house.

I will definitely be making some more visits :)
Herringfleet Mill
26th May 2014 - 0 comments
I have started a new gallery on the site for a new location, Herringfleet Mill on the Norfolk Broads. Although I'm sure this location has so much more to offer in the right light, I made do with the rather plain mid afternoon skies and I wasn't disappointed. I find windmills and wind pumps fascinating; and this one was well worth the walk through the woods and marshland to reach it.

Hope you enjoy the images so far, and be sure to pop back as I make more visits to this wonderful old mill.

Enjoying a change in camera gear
16th May 2014 - 0 comments
I recently decided to move away from my trusty Canon gear in favour of the new Fujifilm X-T1 mirror-less system and so far I have not regretted it one bit.

I love the retro design and the feeling it gives me that once again of actually using a camera as well as creating images. The reduction in weight alone has got to be good for my back :)
The X-Mount lenses, although a little limited at he moment, are nothing short of astounding, with some exciting additions on the Fuji roadmap. Currently I have the 14mm f2.8, which is seeing most of the landscape action, (so far only at Woodbridge) and the 35mm f1.4 that I haven't used yet. My next 'must have' lens will be the remarkable 56mm f1.2, which will no doubt get used for some portraiture.

So far I have discovered that the native jpegs that the camera creates are incredible, which is no bad thing as Adobe haven't quite got the Raw conversion on Lightroom right for the X-Trans files from the little camera. Both Capture One and Photoninja work wonders with the RAW files, but are a little fiddly compared to LR so hopefully that will be sorted out soon?

Be sure to look out for any new work, which will all be from the X-T1, and judge for yourself if you think I made a good move/
